A Short History Of The Canterbury Bulldogs
It was 1935 when the Bulldogs were first added into the NSWRL competition, and their first season was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The team didn't have a home ground and suffered successive losses, but just missed out on the wooden spoon. At the time the club had a few nicknames, including 'Berries', and 'C-Bs.' They were also sometimes known as the 'Country Bumpkins', because of the fact they tended to recruit from regional areas and that 'CB' was their emblem. They came from behind to win their first premiership in 1938. They won their second premiership in 1942, but it took another 38 years before they scored a third title. Across the decade, they showed they were a force to be reckoned with, appearing in 5 grand finals and winning 4.

The Bulldogs have faced many changes over the years, but their fans remain incredibly loyal. The Bulldog mascot and name came into fruition in 1978, with the club officially becoming the 'Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs'. To reflect the change, in 1995 they became the 'Sydney Bulldogs', and then in 1996 they changed again to the 'Canterbury Bulldogs'. In 2000 they became 'Bulldogs' but changed it back to 'Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs' from 2010 onwards. Throughout their history, the Bulldogs have predominantly been blue and white. The only time they weren't able to use those colours was during the Second World War, when they had to use a maroon jersey with a blue 'V'.
